Summary/Notes: This dialog popped into my head a few weeks back and I couldn't shake it out. So here it is…I fleshed it out from just the dialog into a bit more of a ficlet. Sean and Viggo having a conversation that turns into a whole lot.

So It Began

"So have you?" Viggo asks referring to the question still reverberating inside Sean's addled skull. Did he just ask what I thought he asked? Shite!

Sean chokes on his beer momentarily and shakes his head. "Uh, have I what?" Sean stammers.

"Sean." Viggo huffs impatiently. Sean knows what the question is, he's just being evasive. Unsure if Viggo meant it the way Sean's drink slowed brain took it anyway.

"Oh right…have I? No." Sean answers though that's not entirely true. But he isn't sure if he is ready to admit that to Viggo yet. Sean had been a bit awkward lately around Viggo, and the other man was willing to bet this was why.

"No?" Viggo asks raising an eyebrow.

"Well…not…yes…no." Sean stammers and Viggo chuckles into his own beer.

"Well that was coherent." Viggo mumbles and Sean stares at him.

"What I mean is not exactly…but no." Sean says trying to dig himself out of a hole he hadn't realized he'd stepped in.

"Not exactly, but no?" Viggo smirks. "Sean either you have or you haven't."

"Then the answer is yes." Sean admits a bit defeated, "but only once." He amends quickly. He really hadn't wanted to share that bit of information. He obviously had drunk a bit more than he thought he had.

"So…why only once. Was it that bad?" Viggo asked leaning forward resting his elbows on the table.

"Yes…well it wasn't entirely horrible I mean but it wasn't that gOOD either." Sean says taking another drink. How the fuck did they get on this conversation anyway?

"So you would be completely against ever trying again?" Viggo asks curiously as he watches Sean swallow…hard.

"With him or with someone specific?" Sean asks nearly choking again and trying to understand Viggo's angle. Surely Viggo wasn't OFFERINg.

"Well obviously not with HIM since HE wasn't that good for you." Viggo said smiling.

"Oh, well hadn't considered it." Sean mutters.

"Really? Not at all?" Viggo asks amused for some reason. He'd wanted Sean since they first met but he was positive with three ex-wives the man was straight. Until the last few weeks. Until he began to notice lingering touches and stares that seemed to shoot straight through to Viggo's very soul. There was something Viggo didn't know about his friend, so after a few drinks he got up the courage to ask. Thus leading them down a bit of a slippery slope where normally good male friends didn't dare to go.

"Well…no, not at all." Sean squirms a bit. That was a flat out lie that time. He had considered it…thought about it, dreamed about it…but those were fantasy and this, this was real life.

"Afraid you'll like it?" Viggo asks then with a smirk. He could tell Sean was lying, he was too tipsy and too shaken to cover it.

Sean shakes his head. Fuck.

"Yes." Sean answers and drops his head and stares at his hands. Of course yes, yes I am fucking terrified I'll like it, even just a little bit. I liked it last time, but was too freaked out over liking it to continue on.

"You still want it, right?" Viggo asks.

Sean sighs heavily. Christ, what is he a mind reader?

"Yes, I suppose." Sean answers in a soft unsure voice.

"Either you do or not, there is no suppose, Sean." Viggo answers.

"Who the fuck are you, Yoda?" Sean asks trying to make a joke. Viggo frowns at him, obviously the joke was as bad as he thought it was when he said it. "Ok, fine. Fucking FINE! I admit, yes, yes I want it, but…." Sean admits in total defeat. He can't say that last bit, he's not drunk enough yet to say the word---you.

"Who?" Viggo asks.

They sit there staring at one another for what seems a very long time to Sean. Viggo figured it out without Sean having to say the word.

"You." Sean answers in a small voice and looks away.

Viggo smiles and sits back. There that wasn't so hard now was it?

"Only me?" He asks.

"Only you." Sean answers trying to avoid his friend's eyes. This wasn't something you talked to your best friend about. Not if you were supposedly straight anyway, which given tonight's conversation Sean realized that he's probably not as straight as he thought he was.

"What if I told you that you could have me…all of me, and I would ask nothing in return unless you offered it freely." Viggo asks folding his arms across his chest.

Sean's eyes snap up to his, green gaze focusing on blue. "What?" Sean asks shocked.

"You heard me. I am not repeating it." Viggo answers. He was NOT going to repeat that offer EVER again. It was now or never for Sean.

Sean sits there a few minutes considering what Viggo had just said then he smiles slowly.

"So…what now?" Sean asks truly curious, albeit a bit nervous.

"We pay for dinner, get up, go to the car, drive back to my place, and you can shag my brains out any way you want." Viggo answers knowing exactly the reaction he's hoping to see from his friend. Also hoping this will fix everything. They were too close of friends to let a bit of lust ruin it, this would fix it.

Sean realizes this is it. What he had been wanting for months but was terrified to admit it to himself. This wasn't going to go away, so he may as well go for it right? He reaches in his pocket grabs his wallet and tosses more than enough money to pay for the meal and tip on the table.

Viggo smiles. That was easy enough.

The next morning Viggo is sitting at the kitchen table with his head in his hands, Sean is still asleep in his bed. He had known what he was expecting last night, knew what he wanted, knew what Sean wanted. Viggo had given himself over to Sean but had fully expected to get himself back.

He didn't.

Fucking hell this was NOT what he had planned. He knew he'd been lusting after Sean for months and had suspected Sean felt the same way and wanted to clear the air between them. The problem was he hadn't anticipated THIS. Hadn't anticipated that the lust was really more. When Sean wakes up and gets dressed and walks out that door Viggo's heart will be shattered. It will be over before it began. He knows Sean doesn't want this. Men like Sean don't fall in love with other men, do they? No, scratch that last bit. They don't.

Viggo heard Sean stirring in the other room and hopped up from the chair to start water to boil for tea. At least make it seem he was up for hours for more than moping around in his kitchen over a broken heart.

Sean stumbled into the kitchen with only his jeans on. His hair mussed, and his eyes still drowsy from sleep. He smiled when he saw Viggo at the counter.

"Morning." Sean said and Viggo felt ice already forming around his heart. So it begins he thinks to himself.

"Morning." Viggo answers trying not to sound bitter.

Instead of plopping down into a chair though Sean crosses the kitchen, pulls a stunned Viggo into his arms and kisses him senseless. Viggo feels the ice begin to melt a little.

"What was that for?" Viggo asked.

"Us." Sean answers with a huge grin.

"Us?" Viggo asks a bit stunned.

"Yeah, you know. Us. The two human beings standing here looking at each other." Sean answers still smiling but his smile starts to slip. What if Viggo didn't feel the same way, what if last night was just last night and today they were just friends again?

Viggo grins then. "Us? Us? I like the sound of that."

"Really?" Sean asks.

"Yeah." Viggo answers and knows they have much more to talk about, but not just yet.

Not when they still had the rest of the day off…and Sean was less than half dressed in his kitchen. Viggo had fallen for him, harder and faster than he had expected, or maybe it was already there and the lust just blinded him? Either way he wasn't going to let Sean go that easily.

"What are you thinking about?" Sean asked noticing that the wheels were definitely turning in his lover's head.

"Huh? Oh just that we have the whole day off, no where to be, nothing to do…" Viggo says.

"Oh we have plenty to do." Sean grins tightening his arms around Viggo and leaning in to kiss him senseless again.

He may have only dreamed about this before last night, but he wasn't going to give Viggo up, not now. Then Sean has a thought, not now and certainly not ever.

So it began.

The End.
