Title: The Moose, the Tree, and the Irish Writer
Author: Sairalinde
Type: HET Fan Fic
Pairing: Viggo/OFC
Rating: R
Beta: Glorfindel
Disclaimer: This never happened…this is total fiction…Viggo is a real person but I
make no claims on him other than he is ready made for writing a romance story
about. Artist/Actor/Poet all that jazz perfect fodder for a romance story, saved me
a lot of time making up a character is all. The female character is a figment of my
deranged imagination from reading far too many cheesy romance novels.
Peripheral characters of Sean Bean and Orlando Bloom are also not mine
obviously and do NOT have a relationship as far as I know. This was written in
fun that's all. All other characters are fictitious.

Summary/Notes:Viggo meets an Irish writer in a most unusual way. Love story.

Chapter 11

When Viggo got back from dropping Tabby off at Bob's shop he went straight to the barn, saddled Brego and went riding. He didn't come back until well after dark. He didn't want to face that empty house now.

Viggo spent the next three weeks writing poetry about loneliness and broken hearts. Tabby had called each day at least twice a day since she left but there was no call yesterday. Viggo called her and got her voice mail. He left a message but she still hadn't called him back. He started to wonder if her new cell had met the same fate as her last one.

He called Sean on the fifth day of the third week. "She hasn't called in two days…I called and left messages eight times in the last two days for her, and nothing. I can't help feeling she is brushing me off. Maybe she never really loved me at all." Viggo said getting angry.

"Don't be daft of course she loved you, still loves you. Viggo the woman is busy…she lost three weeks and now she has to make up for it. She will call." Sean said though deep down he wasn't as sure as he sounded.

By the fifth week Viggo is practically out of his mind, he called her agent Janie who said that she hadn't heard from Tabby in four days and that she had not been able to reach her either. Viggo was ready to start calling hospitals he was so worried. Then the phone rang.

"Hello!" He said much louder than he intended.

"Viggo, it's Sean…Fed Ex will be coming by your place today with a letter. I would suggest you go pack now, you will need your passport. I am in a rush at the moment and can't explain but read the letter." Sean explained mysteriously. "Sorry Viggo I have to go now."

Shit…what the hell? Viggo decided that he would do what Sean said. He ran upstairs grabbed his passport, his cell phone, and an overnight bag which he stuffed with clothes enough for two days. Then he heard a knock at the door. He raced downstairs with the bag in his hand. After signing for the letter he ripped it open quickly and read Sean's hastily scrawled note.

"Tabby is in Ireland visiting her Aunt Maggie. She came by and visited Orlando and myself on her way…you need to go to her. Now. Enclosed is a ticket to Ireland, I will meet you at the airport when you arrive. Love, Sean"

Viggo raced out the door and drove to Boise faster than he ever has driven in his life except the night he took Xene to the hospital to have Henry. His mind raced even faster. Why was she in Ireland…was it a family emergency? Perhaps her Aunt Maggie wasn't well? Viggo knew that Tabby had spoken of her Aunt with great affection. She seemed to miss her more than she did her own parents and
brothers. When Viggo arrived in Dublin, Sean was waiting for him in a long black overcoat and sunglasses. Viggo walked up to him quickly and gave him a quick hug.

"What the hell is going on, Sean?" Viggo asked.

"I can't tell you, not yet, you have to trust me. You trust me right?" Sean questioned.

"Of course I trust you." Viggo said thrown by Sean's mysteriousness.

They arrived at a small village with quaint houses, and small streets that Viggo thought looked like every movie about Ireland he had ever seen. When Sean stopped in front of an old house with a rickety fence Viggo looked at Sean.

"This is it, this is where Tabby is staying. I should probably go in first though, you wait here." Sean said.

"What?" Viggo asked gritting his teeth at the bizarre way Sean is acting."Trust me." Sean said patting him on the arm.

Sean went inside the house and seemed to be in there for hours. Then an old woman with long gray hair and an apron walked out to the car. Viggo rolled down the window.

"She doesn't want to see you." She said in a very thick Irish accent. Viggo just blinked at her.

"Why? Why doesn't she want to see me? Why won't she answer my calls?" Viggo asked not believing what he was hearing.

"She's embarrassed…herself and her family…I am sorry your friend got you to come all this way but you must leave." The old woman said wringing her hands against the chill in the air.

"The hell I will…where is she?" Viggo said pushing out of the car.

The old woman looked up at him, her face a bit red. Then she looked down at her hands. "She's in the kitchen." She stated softly as if Viggo knew exactly where to find it.

When Viggo entered the small house he heard Sean's voice.

"But you have to Tabby. You have to." Sean pleaded.

"I won't…no Sean, please…why did you betray me like this? How could you!?" She screamed at him.

"Tabby you love Viggo don't you?" He asked. This stopped Viggo…he wanted to hear the answer to that one himself.

"Yes, with all my heart Sean." She sniffed.

"Then why are you doing this?" Sean asked.

"Because, hell Sean you KNOW why!" She yelled at him sobbing.

"I don't." Viggo said as he entered the kitchen. Sean and Tabby looked at him and Sean heaved a deep breath. Tabby looked at Viggo as if he had sprouted horns.

Tabby turned then and fled out the back door. Viggo stood there a few seconds before he looked at Sean. "Go after her you idiot." Sean said shaking his head.

Viggo ran after her and easily caught up with her shorter stride. He caught her about the shoulder and turned her around. Her copper curls were flying in the breeze and she had tears streaming down her face.

"Why didn't you call? Why did you come to Ireland? What the hell is going on!?" Viggo demanding punctuating each statement with a slight shake making sure his words were sinking into that thick Irish head of hers.

"I tried, I tried a million times, but each time I couldn't." She tried to explain between shuddering sobs.

Viggo pulled her to him and held her tight, her body curled against his and seemed to cling to him for life. She still loved him but was pushing him away.

"Why are you pushing me away?" Viggo asked pulling back from her and looking down into her tear stained face.

"Because, you don't want the same things I do." She said softly.

"What? I want you, I love you, and you say you love me, I can see you love me when I look in your eyes, by the pain I see there now…what do you mean that I don't want the same things you do? Did you ever even ask what I wanted?" Viggo said then.

"I didn't need to, I know you don't want to marry again." She said softly.

"Marry? When did we discuss marriage?" Viggo asked getting angry.

"We didn't discuss it exactly, I just, I overheard you talking to Sean and the way you said that you had "been there done that, don't recommend it" that you meant you never wanted to marry." She said quickly, almost so fast Viggo had trouble understanding her.

"What? I was being facetious. Besides we haven't known each other long enough to have even discussed or thought about that yet." Viggo said shaking his head.

"But I have to think about it." She said softly, pleadingly.

"What do you mean? Because of your family not approving of your life? What?" Viggo said trying to understand what the hell she was talking about.

"No, and yes…oh Viggo…I am so confused, I really don't know what's right anymore." She said as her knees buckled. Viggo was stunned at first, and then he picked her up and carried her back to the house. She had suddenly become very pale.

Once they entered the house he set her in one of the kitchen chairs. "Tabby? Tabby…are you alright?" He asked squeezing her hand. Sean was standing against one of the counters, as was Aunt Maggie. Then Maggie crossed to a door across the room and said, "Come on Tabby before you mess up my clean floor."

Tabby stood and then she turned a bit paler and raced after Maggie into the small washroom.

Viggo slid into one of the chairs and looked at Sean. Realization was starting to hit Viggo then.

"She's pregnant isn't she?" Viggo asked Sean.

"Yeah." Sean replied.

Viggo closed his eyes and sat back in his chair. "What was she going to do about that?" He asked Sean.

"She plans to keep the baby from what I can tell…and she promised she would tell you but I couldn't get her to do it sooner. She called me the day she found out. She had no idea what to do. I kept telling her to call you, but she refused. She was convinced that you didn't want to be married ever again, and that if she told you she was pregnant you would feel obligated." Sean said.

"Obligated? Obligated??? Fucking hell." Viggo said slapping his hand against the table.

Maggie came out of the room first. "She will be out in a moment. She uh has a bit of the flu." The old woman lied again wringing her hands.

Viggo discovered then that Maggie wrings her hands when she is lying. Just as Tabby can't look you in the eye when she is.

"Right." Viggo said snidely.

A few minutes later Tabby appeared and her color was much better.

"Um Aunt Maggie, Sean, can you leave us alone a few minutes?" Tabby asked softly looking down at the floor.

Sean patted Viggo on the shoulder as he walked into the other room. Tabby sat down at the table across from Viggo.

"So when were you planning on telling me you were pregnant?" Viggo asked.

Tabby's eyes snapped up to his. "I don't know." She admitted.

"So the only plan you had was to come to your Aunts?" Viggo asked.

"That's as far as I had thought, yes." She said softly.

"Tabby I want you to come home with me." Viggo said sitting forward in his chair and taking her hands in his.

"No, Viggo I don't want this situation to cause you to do something you will regret later." She said with fresh tears forming in her eyes.

Viggo frowned. "Tabby how can I prove to you that weather you are pregnant or not I still want you to come home."

"Viggo I don't think it's right that I go back to your home, I oh hell I don't know what to think anymore. I don't want you to grow to hate me. I won't have you bitter and angry with me in a few years when you decide you feel trapped in a marriage you felt was a necessity and not out of want or love. Please can't you understand that? I love you too much to do that to you…and I am too selfish I suppose as well. I don't want to go through knowing that you eventually will resent me." She said as tears poured down her face yet again.

"How many times do I have to tell you I was joking with Sean that day?" Viggo questioned.

"That isn't the point, the point is this is not the way to start a marriage…you know that. I never thought this would happen, I have been on the pill for years!" She said looking away from him.

"I always thought a marriage was based on love…I love you, Tabby. I have loved you since the day I met you. Now that I know you are carrying my child, OUR child a child we created in love not in lust I love you even more. I want to be there for you…if marriage scares you then fine, we won't get married, we will live together and raise our child. The only difference will be we won't have a piece of paper that says we are legally married." Viggo said softly caressing her cheek.

"These last few weeks without you I have been going crazy…I missed you so much…hell even the horses miss you!" Viggo said then smiling at her.

She laughed then with tears still pouring down her face. "Are you sure about this Viggo? It could be the biggest mistake of either of our lives."

"Mistakes are made everyday, Tabby…but regret, regret is what lingers and hardens you inside. Regret makes a person cold…I don't want us to regret…give me a chance…give us a chance. I want to know my child, and I want you in my life forever." Viggo said softly pulling Tabby into his lap and kissing her again and again and again. Kissing her lips, her face, and her hands.

"I love you. Jeg elsker dig. Gráim thú. My love for you is beyond poetry, beyond words, and beyond depth. You are my light and without you there is no sun, no moon, nothing but darkness. I love you, beyond reason, I love you." Viggo said softly cradling her head in his hands as he looked in her eyes.

New tears ran down her face but they were no longer tears of sorrow, pain, or regret, they were tears of happiness.
