Sean was in his chambers unable to sleep. He was staring out of the window into the distance wondering what his friends must think back in the real world. If he was here, he was certain he wasnt doing too well there. His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on his door. Who the hell would visit this late? He thought crossing to the door. He opened it to see Gandalf and a gaggle of hobbits smiling at him. Oh, um, what brings you all here? Sean asked backing up to let them in. He felt a bit nervous around Frodo, even after what Gandalf had said. We thought you might like some company, saw your chamber was still lit, Pippin said cheerfully. I see, Sean answered sitting down in one of the chairs, and inviting the others to sit as well. Actually, these two have been driving us all mad with wanting to see you and talk to you, the curiosity of a hobbit is a very difficult thing to control, Gandalf said smiling fondly at the group of small men. Sean began to laugh. You all have been hogging his time. First you run us off, and then he is locked away with Faramir, then Aragorn, and then the feast. You left so swiftly we never got a chance to speak with you, Merry announced grumpily. Sean smiled at him; he couldnt quite wrap his brain around the idea of this tiny person who looked and sounded exactly like Dom. Of everyone he had met so far it was the hobbits that threw him the most. Im sorry Merry, it has been a very busy day, Sean said softly. Oh, if you are tired, we can go, Frodo spoke for the first time and Sean looked at him sadly. No, no of course not, Sean answered quickly. Perhaps the two of you would like to speak alone? Gandalf asked cautiously. Sean gave him a pained look and then nodded. Here we go again, Merry. We are being thrown out, Pippin complained but took Merrys arm and the two left with Gandalf and Sam who told Mr. Frodo hed be waiting for him in the hall. He doesnt trust me does he? Sean asked as Sam walked out. Sam doesnt trust anyone, Frodo answered smiling at the man. Sean snorted, Least of all me, eh? I look like him so much. He was afraid to say Boromirs name. Oh no, no Sean.
Please. Gandalf told me you were worried, that I held that against you
against
Boromir but I dont. Truly I dont. It was the ring. It made
people do things they normally would not, say things they normally would
not. I cannot believe Sam stayed with me until the end. I was so mean
to him, Sean, Frodo said softly staring at his hands. People, and hobbits make mistakes. No one is perfect, Sean said after a moment. Frodo attempted to smile but it didnt quite reach his big blue eyes. So much like Elijah. I am sorry for all that has happened to you, Frodo. I was never particularly thrilled with the way it would all turn out, Sean said thinking about the way the books and the scripts concluded. Was was it painful coming here? Frodo asked curiously. I dont remember. I remember standing a few feet away from the man who played Sam in the film, and then everything went black. Then I woke up here. My head hurt and still does ache, but I wouldnt say it was particularly painful. Frodo scooted a bit closer to Sean and they began to talk and a few hours later the other three hobbits joined him. The talked until dawn and all fell asleep on Seans bed. The next morning Aragorn stepped into Seans chambers and smiled at the sight before him. All four hobbits curled up with the blonde man. Sam at the foot of the bed, Merry and Pippin curled around each other with Seans arm wrapped around them both, and Frodo curled up on his other side with his head over the mans heart. Boromir could not make his peace with Frodo, but in a strange way Sean had for him. Aragorn thought as he turned to leave. Aragorn? Sean asked groggily seeing the man at the door about to leave. Im sorry, I did not mean to wake you, Aragorn whispered to not disturb the sleeping hobbits. You didnt, someone is drooling on me, Sean answered grinning. That would be Pippin, Aragorn answered smiling at the man. Ah, thought so. ---------------------------------- The doctor emerged from Seans room and everyone gathered around. No improvement, Im sorry. Head trauma like this is often a game of wait and see. Modern medicine unfortunately still has its limits. Keep him company, talk to him, and pray, is all we can say now. The drugs have kept the swelling down, so when he wakes up he should be just fine. His body just needs time to heal after such a thing. We cant say how long it will be. The doctor explained. He actually couldnt believe after seeing a newspaper photo of the lighting rig that the man hadnt been hurt worse. Viggo felt as if his heart was being ripped out. That meant Sean could wake up tomorrow or in six weeks or never. He turned and saw Liv pouting and he embraced her burying his face in her soft black hair and cried. God, he needed to cry. Of course this caused Livs dam to break and she began to cry and then the entire fellowship were gathered around hugging them and crying. The doctor walked away sadly saying to himself, Only time will tell, but with friends like that, he definitely has something to wake up for. ---------------------------------- The next morning Sean awoke a second time to find a servant moving about his chamber laying out fresh clothing for him. The hobbits had already left, perhaps sometime after Aragorn had? Ah, I see you are awake. The King has asked you to join him later in his library. The tall thin man told him. Thank you. Sean said getting up and crossing to the bathing chamber. Later after a light breakfast he went to Aragorns library again. Sean! How do you feel today? Aragorn asked smiling. You left so suddenly last night. I didnt mean to intrude this morning. I was concerned, but obviously I had no reason to be. I am sorry, I guess I wasnt quite feeling up to a feast, Sean lied not wanting to fill him in on everything. The hobbits were worried too came looking for me late last night. I see. Have you come up with any ideas as to why or how you came to be here? Aragorn asked curiously. I think so, but Id rather not talk about it. Sean answered. How the hell was he supposed to tell this man who looked quite real that he wasnt? That he was a figment of his imagination because Sean was probably in a coma. It all felt so real but at the same time Sean knew in his heart that it wasnt. Arwen asked if perhaps you would like to join her for a walk around the gardens today, she thinks the air would do you good after spending the last few days in bed. That sounds nice, Id enjoy that, Sean answered feeling awkward as if there was something more Aragorn wanted to really say but was holding back. You talked of the movies and books. So there is a man who plays my part? Aragorn asked. Yes, of course. Sean answered sitting down at the window seat again. Tell me about him, is he a friend? Aragorn asked curiously. Oh yes, his name is Viggo and yes we are very good friends, Sean couldnt help smiling when he thought of Viggo. Aragorn noted the way Seans eyes lit up when mentioning his friends name. The same look Boromir had always gotten when their eyes would meet. Perhaps Seans reality and his own were not so far detached. I loved him you know. I loved him dearly, Aragorn stated after a few moments of silence. Faramir had said something about how much you loved your friend, Sean answered. I am afraid you dont understand. I loved him as more than a friend, Sean. Boromir and I were lovers. Aragorn answered. Suddenly the words Viggo had spoke to him the night before the accident rang in his mind. Oh, I am sorry. I perhaps I should go. My presence here is only hurting all of you, Sean answered sadly. No, no of course not. You can stay as long as you would like. While it hurts me to see you because I see in you the man I loved, it comforts me the same way. I am sure it is the same for the others as well. It is almost like being given a second chance, Aragorn answered sitting down next to him. Sean looked at the other man; he could see Viggo in him so clearly at times. I suppose second chances shouldnt be spoiled. Sean answered softly thinking about what he wanted to say to Viggo once he got back. No, they should not. Aragorn answered leaning closer to the other man brushing a tender kiss across his lips. Sean didnt draw away instead he leaned into the kiss pressing their lips more firmly together, then he felt Aragorns tongue seeking entrance and Sean allowed him. He moaned softly into the kiss, as their tongues slid together, tasting, sharing in one another. Sean had dreamt of kissing Viggo before, when that dream popped into his mind he pulled away. Im sorry, I I dont know if I can do this. I want to, Sean began. But I remind you of this Viggo, and you would prefer I was him rather than Aragorn? The man asked. Yes, Im sure you feel the same. You wish I was Boromir, but Im not. Then tell me about him, you already know all about my Boromir, tell me about your Viggo, Aragorn answered sitting back. He was disappointed but he understood. This man did not love him; he loved the man he looked like, just the same, as he loved the man Sean looked like. His Viggo. Sean smiled but then quickly followed it with a frown, "Don't be daft." Men didn't talk about such things. Aragorn smiled. He didn't understand what 'daft' meant but he could guess from the look on Sean's face. Boromir would get a similar look if he thought you were jesting at his expense. "I'd really like to know more about him. He looks like me correct?" Aragorn asked determined to get Sean to talk to him. "Well yes, but..." Sean began. "It's not something I'd normally discuss either, Sean, but I'm curious. Besides it might make you feel better." Sean sighed and eyed the other man warily. "All right just don't offer to braid my hair." That elicited a huge grin just before Aragorn began to laugh, just like Viggo putting Sean at complete ease. He rejoined Aragorn at the window seat and began telling him everything from the first moment he had laid eyes on the other man. Hed never really believed in talking to anyone about this sort of thing, but what the hell it was his imagination right? Continue to Chapter 5 |
