~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ David gathered his books and papers and turned to the door smiling at Craig as he gathered his things. He hadn't run this late for work in a very long time. He couldn't help smiling wider when he remembered why. He had awoken with Craig still wrapped in his arms. The alarm had gone off twice before David had finally moved his arm from around Craig to turn it off. Laying there smiling at each other, neither of them had wanted to move. David couldn't remember ever waking up feeling so content. They had lain there longer than they should have, wrapped in each other's arms, snuggling and kissing until both of them realized the time. They had laughed when their immediate reaction from them both was a chorus of "OH HELL!" Now that they were heading out the door for work David smiled at the man he'd fallen in love with. "We won't be late only takes fifteen minutes to walk...you alright with walking? This late in the morning parking would be a nightmare, we'd be even later," David said opening the door for Craig. Craig reached down and twined his fingers with David's as his other hand clutched at the overstuffed briefcase. Unable to resist stopping for one moment to kiss his lover in the doorway, he sighed happily and squeezed his hand. "I'm fine with walking," he smiled. "I hate being late, but can't think of better reason for it. Last night ..last night was wonderful." Blushing slightly, he looked down, studying the ground for a moment.. "I mean .everything .what happened you know what I mean, and afterward, just holding you and talking and .." He looked up and stared into his lover's eyes. After a moment, he looked away, afraid that David would see too much in his gaze. Laughing nervously, he tugged gently at David's hand as they began walking toward the university. "And this morning, waking up like that .I I liked that. A lot." David smiled as Craig took his hand and he felt himself blushing right along with Craig as he spoke of the night before. "I did too, all of it. I don't think I've slept better in my life because you were beside me," David said softly as they walked along the sidewalk hand in hand. He truly had never felt this happy in his life. Craig was perfect. Beautiful, intelligent, and made David feel cared for -something he never felt before in a relationship. Craig smiled and brought David's hand up to his lips, kissing it softly. "I know what you mean," he said quietly. "I haven't slept well in a long time. I usually just get a couple of hours each night, but ..well, this whole weekend, just being able to hold you while I sleep I feel *grounded* or something, you know? Like I don't know I don't really understand it myself. Like I've been looking for something for so long, and now that I've found it, I can just relax and stop searching." Shaking his head, Craig worried that he'd said too much. But it was the truth. He'd never felt this way before, and the rush of feeling and emotions was almost overwhelming. "Sorry if that sounds stupid ..I guess I kind of get silly when I get all rested and happy and stuff " "I don't think it's silly or stupid," David said softly, "I don't really understand all of this myself, I've never felt this...connected to anyone else. Especially this quickly," he added blushing slightly. He usually took it very slow but with Craig he just couldn't help himself. He'd never been this attracted to anyone before, and he had fallen in love with him in mere hours rather than the months it took him with others. Maybe this was how it was supposed to be? He prayed that maybe *this* time he'd get it right. As they neared the University he could see students moving toward the various buildings, and saw a few of the other professors heading for the lecture hall for the morning staff meeting. Craig turned to look at David. "I know we wanted to take it slow. And I know I've said dozens of times that I'm sorry if I'm moving too fast, but ..I can't seem to help myself." "I can't seem to help myself either," David grinned. "I guess it's good we are both on the same page with that." Grinning, Craig squeezed David's hand and stopped just before the steps that led up the front doors of the University. Already, his mind was ready for the next few hours to hurry by so he could be alone with him again. David said he spent a lot of time alone - and that suited Craig just fine. He'd never been much of a people person himself, and found that just the thoughts of being alone with David made him grin like an idiot. // Maybe we could go out tonight? So we can talk, and not have to cook? Dinner, a movie a oh, dear, LORD. A date? Would he? Do I even have the balls to ask? What if he says no? Oh, BLOODY HELL! // He looked at his watch and then at David. "I I know we're late but .maybe we can talk between classes or something? I'd like to ask you about something if you have time?" David watched Craig for a moment wondering why he suddenly looked nervous. "Ask me about something? Umm, I have office hours until one today. So I guess after the meeting...if you don't have a class to teach you could come back to my office? If you'd like that is," David offered, worried that whatever Craig wanted to ask if it was making him nervous he may not really want to hear it. He hoped he wasn't going to ask to move out, or to just go back to only being friends. Craig sat his briefcase down and reached into his pocket for his calendar, still unfamiliar with his own schedule. He fumbled a bit, trying to open it with one hand, unwilling to release David's hand for even a moment. "Yes, I'm free for a couple of hours after the meeting," he said, smiling at his lover, seeing that he suddenly looked worried for some reason. "So ..exactly how late are we? I mean, do we need to head straight for the lecture hall, or do you think we could maybe walk around the corner of this building and I could steal one little kiss before we go in? According to my watch, we've got exactly 3 minutes before we're supposed to be there. And I think we could walk pretty quickly if we had to. What do you think, Dr. Wenham?" David laughed at Craig's proposal and pulled him to the side out of the way of people passing into the building, "Hmmm, sounds like a great idea...though we don't really *have* to go around the corner for a little kiss...but let's see 3 minutes? A lot can be achieved in 3 minutes," he said grinning backing around the corner, pulling Craig with him. Craig laughed, loving the smile that was on David's face. As they rounded the corner, he completely forgot where they were and leaned back against the building, pulling David with him, his own nervousness pushed aside. "You're exactly right," he whispered, snaking his tongue out to lick at his lover's bottom lip as he wrapped his arms around David's waist. "A lot can be achieved, if one plays one's cards right." He leaned in and placed a soft kiss at each corner of David's mouth. "And did I mention that you look *particularly* handsome today?" David grinned and nodded, "Seems I remember you mentioning that in our room this morning," David said softly not even realizing he'd said 'our room'. He leaned forward and pressed his lips against Craig's gently at first and then more deeply, his tongue meeting Craig's and slipping along it. He ran his fingers through Craig's hair gently and felt himself starting to get aroused. Something he didn't want to be in a staff meeting with his ex and his father. David pulled back and rested his forehead against Craig's. "God I can't believe the way you make me feel," he whispered softly. Craig smiled and leaned in to his lover's touch, closing his eyes and melting into him. As David pulled away from the kiss, Craig sighed regretfully, wishing they were back in bed, just the two of them, and they had the whole weekend ahead of them again. "I feel the same way," he said in a low voice as he lifted one hand up to gently run over his lover's cheek. Craig slowly opened his eyes and stared at David. "God, you're gorgeous," he said softly. David blushed and kissed Craig tenderly, "You like to make me blush don't you?" he asked softly grinning at his lover. Craig was the one who was gorgeous, his smile was absolutely breathtaking. Feeling the words on the tip of his tongue David focused on not letting them slip past. He wanted to tell Craig how he felt, but it was still too soon, and he feared the moment he said those words that the world would come crashing down. Here he was a poet who couldn't say 'I love you'. Craig pulled David close and buried his face in his neck, loving the feel of the warm skin against his cheek. "In fact," he grinned, "I *do* enjoy making you blush. But it doesn't make my words any less true. You. Are. Gorgeous." He simply held David for a moment before giving a deep sigh. "And *WE* are going to be late if we don't go now, as much as I'd love to stay here." He pressed his lips against the soft skin just below his lover's ear. "Well, my gorgeous love r ." He caught himself at the last moment, clearing his throat as he tried to cover his gaff. "My gorgeous lover ..shall we go?" he asked, pulling away and looking down, pretending to be searching for something in his pocket with one hand as he grabbed David's hand with the other. David stared at Craig for a moment certain he'd almost called him his love and not lover. He looked down when he realized Craig hadn't and took a deep breath. "Yeah, we'd better go," he said softly squeezing Craig's hand as they made their way for the door again. He hated staff meetings but with Craig by his side this one would be easier to handle than any other. As they walked hand in hand to the lecture hall, Craig berated himself for almost letting his mouth run away with him *again*. They finally reached the double doors that David had stormed out of a mere three days ago. He squeezed his lover's hand tightly, his stomach in a knot, knowing that as badly as his heart had broken when David's father had berated him on Friday, it would be a thousand times worse if it happened again today. But at least he'd be here with him this time, and not just an anonymous face across the room. "I'm right here with you," he whispered as they walked through the doors and he let David guide them to two empty seats. As Craig whispered to him that he was with him David felt his heart skip in his chest. His lover had no idea how much that just meant to him. As they sat down David could feel several sets of eyes on them, but he refused to release Craig's hand. Sitting down beside his love he ignored them as his father stood up to begin the meeting, looking directly at David his eyebrows going up as he saw the new professor who had stood up for David last week holding his son's hand. Looking down unable to meet his father's piercing gaze David took a deep breath knowing that he needed to keep his mouth shut today. Craig held David's hand tightly, making sure he knew that he was not alone. He felt curious eyes staring at them, and turned to meet each gaze in turn, smiling and nodding until each set of eyes turned away. He was proud to be at David's side, and he wanted the world to know it. As David looked down under his father's gaze, Craig scooted a little closer and looked up to smile at the Chancellor. He was *not* going to make things harder on David, but he was not going to act like he was ashamed of their relationship either. "You ok?" he whispered, leaning closer to his lover. "I'm fine. I'll get a phone call later, he'll want a 'family dinner'," David said frowning. Family dinners were never...pleasant. He wished there was some way in the world he could please his father but he knew he'd never be able to live up to the memory of a ghost. Craig felt the cloud suddenly descend over David as his father continued to stare at them. He broke his gaze with the chancellor and looked at his lover, gently rubbing his thumb over the back of David's hand, knowing that there was something beyond what met the eye behind their relationship. If it hadn't been clear last Friday, it certainly was today. "What can I do?" he asked softly. "Anything. Just tell me how I can help." "There is nothing that can be done, Craig. I wish there were, but there isn't. I'll never live up to the memory of my older brother," David said sadly. He loved his brother dearly, and when he died it had broken his father's heart. David would always be second best, second to the memory of his brother. His mother tried to alleviate the pain, as did his Aunt, but it never helped. Craig felt tears gather in his eyes as he realized his free hand was clutching the arm of his chair so hard his knuckles were white and his fingers were almost cramping. He'd had no idea that David had had an older brother - especially one that had died. "David," Craig said softly. "I'm so sorry. I I didn't know. God, it kills me to see you like this just because he's in the same room. I'm so sorry about your brother. But you're here and your father needs to realize that you're wonderful and perfect and amazing in your own right." // And I love you and can't stand to see you like this. Please, just let us get through this meeting so I can just go somewhere and just hold him and make him smile again. Just *please* don't let his father start anything. Not today. Please. // "It's ok, Craig. Really," David said softly, squeezing Craig's hand. He looked up when his father asked if there were any questions knowing the meeting was coming to an earlier than usual close. He hoped that didn't mean he was going to ask him to stay behind. No one seemed interested in asking anything this morning so his father concluded the meeting. He looked around the room once, nodded at David frowning and strode out of the room with his secretary before anyone else could even get out of their seats. // Yep...I'm getting a phone call, // David thought bleakly. He took a deep breath and stood up pulling Craig up with him since their hands were still joined. Craig would not have let go of his lover's hand at that moment for all the money in the world. His beautiful David, who had been smiling and laughing such a short time ago, now stood, head down and looking as if the weight of the world rested on his shoulders. He leaned in closer and reached out to clasp David's other hand as the crowd around them began to sift through the door and into the hall. "It's not ok, David," he said softly. "Let me help? I can't stand to see you this way. At least, it might help to talk to someone." David looked up at Craig and nodded, "I don't want to burden you with my problems, Craig, but it would be nice to have someone to talk to," he said softly. "Want to walk me to my office?" he asked, hoping he would. He didn't want Craig to have to listen to his problems, but it made him feel good that he wanted to. Richard never cared, would never listen to anything David had to say. Craig smiled softly and released one of David's hands to pick up their books and notes, quickly stuffing everything into his briefcase, his eyes never leaving his lover's. "You will *never* be a burden," he said softly, closing the latches with one hand and lifting the briefcase from the desktop. "And I would love to walk you back to your office. I want you to tell me everything - or at least as much as you feel comfortable telling me. I .I want to know all about you, David. Not just this, or just your poetry - I want to know what you think and how you feel, and just everything." David looked at him a moment wishing that he had a lifetime to tell this man everything, so he could share everything with him. "Thank you, and I want to know more about you too, you know I don't even know where you are from originally? How you chose to teach in the medical field? I don't even know where your office is," David said softly. The lecture hall was empty except the two of them, and honestly David didn't care if it was full of people at that point. Wishing to lighten the mood, he smiled mischievously. "Although there are a few things," he whispered leaning forward, licking and nibbling on his lover's earlobe, "I bet I know that none of your other friends do." Craig smiled, grateful to see the smile he'd already begun to miss back on his lover's face. He tilted his head and nuzzled David's neck, letting the briefcase fall to the floor, and wrapping both arms around him. "You *do* at that, Dr. Wenham," he said softly, pressing soft kisses to his lover's neck and along his jaw line. Wishing he could take every harsh word David had ever had to hear, every unkind look or innuendo, he held him close and pulled back to gaze into the blue eyes. "Say ."he smiled, his nervousness from earlier in the morning completely gone, "how about we go to your office now, spend a little time together, then I can take you out for dinner or something? Like .a date maybe?" He searched his lover's eyes seriously for a moment before placing a final soft kiss to his lips. "Would you please go out with me tonight, David? Then we can go home, relax, and you can tell me the story of your life?" David nodded, "Yes, I'd love to," David said happily. It seemed like they were getting things a little backwards, already shared a bed once, and now they are going on their first actual date...though coffee on Friday had been somewhat of a date he supposed. Plus he was already in love with Craig, though he knew he wasn't ready to tell him. The fact Craig called it a date meant that he saw this---what had been happening between them, as a relationship. He leaned down and picked up Craig's briefcase, then took his hand as they began to make their way for David's office. Craig grinned at everyone they passed as they walked down the long hallways. //We're going on date!// Craig focused on just being with his lover right here and now, wanting to make David happy and being happier than he himself had ever been in his life. He wanted to somehow fix this thing between David and his father - or at least help David get past it. When they finally reached David's office, they entered quickly and shut the door behind them. Craig licked his lips and tried to fake an evil laugh. "Now that I've got you all alone," he grinned, "whatever shall I do with you, my gorgeous lover?" David hadn't paid much attention to anyone they passed on their way to his office, all he knew was the feel of Craig's hand in his. Once inside his office he laughed when Craig teased him. "I don't know...but I certainly am looking forward to figuring it out," he grinned laying his books and papers on his desk and turning to face his lover. He wrapped his arms around Craig's waist and pulled him close unable to stop smiling. "I love...love the way your eyes sparkle when you smile," David said softly covering his mistake, though what he had said was the absolute truth. He did love the way Craig's eyes sparkled. // He loves the way my eyes sparkle. Well, at least he loves *something* about me. That's a start, I guess. // Craig ran his hands over David's arms, reaching over to unbutton the top button of his black shirt. Pushing it aside, he pressed his lips where the warm skin of David's neck tapered off into his collarbone, gently sucking, marking him, and soothing the reddened area with his tongue. // God, he tastes so good. I could just *live* off him.// He wrapped his arms around his lover and closed his eyes, feeling every centimeter of his body where it came in contact with David's. "And I love your eyes too," he whispered. "So incredible. So warm and beautiful and amazing. Just like you." As Craig's mouth worked at his neck David sucked in a deep breath and closed his eyes, his hands caressing and kneading taut muscles through Craig's shirt. As his lover pulled back and whispered softly, David smiled, blushing at the compliments and leaning forward to press his lips against Craig's, tenderly licking and nibbling on his bottom lip before sealing his lips over Craig's and slipping his tongue past soft lips to glide along smooth teeth. Craig's kisses were intoxicating, and made David long for more. He wished they were home rather than standing in the middle of his office. Trailing the kiss down from Craig's lips to his neck David worked open the top two buttons of Craig's dark blue shirt to reveal smooth skin which he kissed every exposed inch of. // God, I've never wanted someone this much before...never *needed* to feel them this way.// Craig moaned into his lover's mouth as he closed his eyes and lost himself in the kiss. As soft kisses made a slow trail over his skin, he felt his legs begin to grow weak, and he held on to David to keep from falling over. He opened his eyes long enough to judge the sturdiness the desk behind him and turned just enough so that he could sit on the edge. He pulled David with him until he was standing between Craig's legs, still kissing and making Craig wish he could simply strip every bit of clothing off him and make love to him then and there. His hands trailed across David's back, pulling him closer still as he felt David's arousal press firmly against his own. "God, David," he whispered. "I can't believe what you do to me." David smiled against warm skin sucking and marking Craig's skin and kissing the area lightly soothing the spot with his tongue before pulling back to gaze into his lover's eyes. "I feel the same way, the moment you touch me, it's as if a million tiny glowing embers sparked to life inside me," he whispered softly. "I also can't believe I'm standing in my office kissing the most beautiful man I've ever met in my entire life." Leaning forward again David kissed his lover deeply, his tongue sinking into Craig's mouth to taste and tease. // I don't think I'll ever be able to get enough of this perfect man who has stolen my heart.// Craig trailed his fingers over David's back, wishing the shirt underneath his fingers would magically disappear. As his lover's words washed over him, Craig tightened his arms and reached up to run his fingers through soft hair, closing his eyes and giving himself over to his lover fully. Craig's own tongue caressed David's as it explored his mouth, softly nudging his lover's teeth and the inside of his mouth, tasting of the sweetest flavor Craig could ever have imagined. He finally understood kissing now. Understood how a simple touch of lips could make everything make sense in a split second, how the taste of a lover could be all one needed to make the world unravel around him. // When you kiss the man you love, it changes everything you've ever thought you've known about kissing.// This was heaven, this was what it felt like to love someone, really love them not just *think* you do but really truly love them, with every fiber of your being, David thought. Just kissing Craig was like he had found the only source that could quench the fire of desire. David's hands traveled along his lover's back, wishing he felt smooth warm skin rather than the soft cotton under his hands. Never had he wanted someone this much, this quickly, this completely. Pulling back because the need for breath was too much he ran his fingers through soft dark hair and smiled. "You are incredible," he whispered before leaning forward and kissing him again. He couldn't get enough of those beautiful sweet lips. Dully he thought he could hear a knock at the door but thought perhaps it was just the sound of his own heart beating in his ears. Sally stood at the door staring at the two professors who were oblivious to the world around them. Neither man seemed to hear her knock or her words of hello before she had looked up and saw them. Wrapped in each other's arms, kissing and seemingly lost in themselves. She felt like an intruder and that she should leave but David was late for class, the students were waiting for him, and obviously he did not recall the time. Another part of her felt warm and happy, seeing the two men together like that, and she hated herself for having to interrupt them. "Umm, Dr. Wenham!" she said louder than she had the first time, not wanting to startle the two lovers. She couldn't help grinning from ear to ear though, she'd been witness to David with Richard in the past and never had they been like this. Never. Craig's fingers tangled in David's hair as he moaned softly, completely unaware of their surroundings. His entire world was right there in his arms, and he couldn't have cared less about anything or anyone else at that moment. He heard only the soft, breathless moans that he realized were as much his own as David's. One leg lifted to let the toe of his shoe gently run along the back of his lover's calf as his hand trailed over David's arm, wanting to touch every inch of skin he reach. "Can't wait to get you home," he murmured against David's lips, not even noticing how quickly he'd come to think of David's house as his home. His tongue pressed into his lover's mouth, unable to keep from exploring and tasting just as his own mouth had been so thoroughly taken only moments before. Sally heard Craig murmur to David and realized if she didn't say something soon she might end up seeing something David wouldn't want her to see...not that she'd mind. They were beautiful together. She cleared her throat and still didn't manage to get their attention, so she walked over and hesitatingly tapped David on the shoulder. "Dr. Wenham?" she asked softly trying not to startle him too badly. As someone tapped his shoulder David jerked back from Craig slightly and blinked. Sally laughed softly and he felt his face turn bright red. "Sally?" David asked startled to see her standing right next to them. He didn't know what to do so he just stared at her as if she were some sort of alien race. She laughed again and shook her head. "Dr. Wenham I really hate to interrupt you....but class started ten minutes ago," she said softly smiling at both of the startled looking men. Now that she saw Craig close up she could see why David had been unable to stop smiling on Friday. He was a very handsome man...albeit a little confused looking at the moment. Craig jumped as David abruptly pulled away from him and turned toward the attractive young woman who seemed to have simply *appeared* out of thin air. His face flushed and he sat up straight, giving her a sheepish smile as she spoke to his lover. Letting one hand slide down to rest on David's hip as the other reached up to rub nervously through his hair, Craig knew how rumpled he must look. "Um hi," he said, with an embarrassed grin. "Guess we forgot to ..um put a 'warning for graphic images' sign on the door, eh? Sorry about that. I ..kind of forgot where we were for a moment." Sally laughed, "That's ok...they were lovely graphics," she said smiling widely. She'd never seen David so...relaxed. David stared at Sally and then laughed at what Craig had said, "Ten minutes? Oh God," he turned to Craig. "I'm sorry...um I lost track of time," he said staring into Craig's eyes. Never taking his eyes from Craig's he spoke to Sally, "Can you go tell everyone I'll be there in a few minutes? Umm, have them read page... 245 in the anthology and start an essay on it for discussion," he said softly. Sally nodded grinning. "Yeah...I'll do that, but you WILL be there right? Or should I just take up the essays at the end of the class?" she asked unsure David actually would make it to class. Sighing David nodded, "Yeah, I'll be there," he said still looking at Craig instead of Sally. Craig's eyes left the young woman as David turned to stare at him. As their gazes locked, his fingers tightened reflexively on his lover's hip, barely hearing the words David and the woman exchanged. He licked his lips and fought the urge to press them back against the kiss swollen ones that were once again in front of him. Instead, he reached down with his free hand and locked his fingers around David's, unable to look away from the sparkling blue eyes. Feeling like an awkward third wheel Sally shook her head, "I'll see you later then...was nice meeting you Craig wasn't it? My name is Sally...if you even hear me," she said laughing as she turned for the door to leave them alone. She doubted David would make it to class, if he did fine, if not she needed to work up a good cover story for him. As she left she made sure she turned the lock on the door, just in case anyone else wanted to come to his office unannounced. Craig simply stared into David's glittering blue eyes, vaguely hearing the woman speaking as she crossed the room and shut the door. Several moments after the door closed he turned his head in the general direction she had headed, his eyes never leaving David's. "Umm Yes. Sally. Nice to meet you," he murmured, not even realizing she was long gone. He finally blinked and shook his head, smiling at his lover. "Sorry. I didn't hear anyone come in. You're not *too* embarrassed, are you? Not mad, I hope? I just kind of forgot everything but you for a while there. Quite a nice mindset to be in. I'd like to return there *very* soon." David smiled, "Not mad at all, a little embarrassed gives Sally yet more ammunition to tease me with, but she's a good kid. Best assistant I've ever had, gona miss her when she graduates...IF she graduates...anyway...that mindset you spoke about...yeah I'd like to return there very soon myself," he grinned leaning forward and pressing his lips against Craig's again. He simply couldn't get enough of this beautiful man. Craig sighed happily and licked at his lover's full lips, drawing him close once again. He nibbled at David's bottom lip for several moments before reaching up to move the collar of his shirt over, his fingertips gently tracing over the reddened area of his neck. "Guess I didn't make much of a first impression on her," he smiled. "Think she'll hold this against me? I mean, I *marked* her professor. You didn't mind, did you?" he asked, suddenly worried that he'd overstepped his bounds. Maybe David didn't *want* to be marked. "Of course I don't mind....umm in case you hadn't noticed," David said softly his hand trailing down Craig's neck to just under his shirt collar. "I think you need to wear shirts with collars for the next few days," he grinned. "And I think you made a fine impression on Sally, if she didn't like you she wouldn't have even spoken to you at all," David said smiling. Craig grinned and ran his tongue over the mark on his lover's skin, feeling a shiver of desire run down his spine as David's fingertips ghosted over the redden area of his neck that he knew must match David's own. "Glad she likes me then," he murmured, pulling his lover closer and wrapping his arms around him. "She seemed sweet. Not as sweet as you though." Nuzzling his face into David's neck, he nibbled and kissed a slow trail up to his ear. "I have to say that if you *really* want to make it to that class, you'd better go now, otherwise, I'm gonna have to keep you here for a while. I still have an hour to kill before my class starts." David sighed debating seriously about skipping the class but he *had* told Sally he would be there. He felt a little guilty...though not guilty enough to rush away just yet. "Hmm, yeah...I do need to go," he said softly before tipping Craig's face up to his and kissing him softly. "I'll see you this afternoon? I finish my last class at 4:15, and have office hours until 5:30," David said softly. Craig placed a final kiss over the mark on David's neck and reached up to regretfully fasten the top button of his shirt. "I'll be finished at 5:00 today, I think," he said, resting his forehead against David's. "Then, maybe I can walk you home? And I think we have a date after that? Unless you'll be sick of me by then?" He leaned in and rained soft kisses all over his lover's face. "Hmmmm? Are you sick of me, my love r??" David looked at Craig for a moment certain that he wasn't losing his mind he *did* almost call me 'love' didn't he? Then again maybe not? He sighed softly wishing he knew for sure, "No way I could ever get sick of you. Ever. Walk home and then we can go anywhere you like...anywhere at all, as long as it's with you I don't care where we go," David said softly truly meaning it. Craig leaned back and smiled softly at his lover. "Anywhere you want to go," he smiled. "I don't even know what kind of food you like - or what movies or .God, there's so much I want to know about you. And I'm having so much fun finding out." Pressing his lips against David's, he sighed happily. "You chose. Tell me where you want to go." "Hmm, really? I never get to chose," he murmured slightly surprised. "Um, I have no idea," he laughed, "Guess that's why no one ever lets me pick. Let me give it some thought, we can discuss it on the way home?" he asked softly. Craig drew back and looked at David, tilting his head to the side. "You never get to chose?" he asked, not understanding. "There are two of us here .and I want you to be happy with whatever we do." Gently finger-combing his lover's hair with one hand, he let the thumb of his other hand trail over David's lips. "You know that, right? That what *you* want is important to me?" David looked down, "In my past relationships, I was never really asked what I wanted, we just did what they said and I never really argued with it, even if I hated it," David said shrugging. "I'm very happy that you care about what I want too, you have no idea how much that means to me." Craig closed his eyes and held his lover tightly. "My sweet David," he said softly, wishing he could understand *how* anyone could treat such a wonderful man that way. "Please tell me that you'll let me know what you like and don't like, what you love and what you hate? I want nothing more than to have this to have what we have with each other make you happy. And that means that I don't want to do anything you hate, ever. I want us to do things we both enjoy. We're in this together, ok? Fifty/fifty? Please?" No one had ever offered him that. No one, not even his own family. David swallowed past the lump in his throat and nodded slowly. "Ok," he said softly. "I will and I want to know what you love and what you hate too....fifty/fifty means you have to tell me too." He looked into his lover's eyes knowing that he was later than a few minutes but not able to pull away just yet. "I don't know what I have done to have you come into my life, I feel as if for once Providence has smiled upon me. Speaking of I do need to get to class before Sally kills me," he said softly. "I love...I do love um Italian food, there is a nice restaurant here in town. Called Romero's if you'd like there I could call and see if we can get a table. On a Monday night it shouldn't be too hard," David said reaching for anything to cover his near slip. Craig held his breath as the words he would have given anything to hear almost rolled of David's tongue. // He loves Italian food. STOP thinking he's going to say he loves you, you big sap! // "Romero's sounds perfect," he said softly, leaning in to gently nibble on David's bottom lip - his new favorite treat. He pulled back to let his eyes travel over the beloved face. He sighed and reluctantly loosened his hold on his lover. "One more kiss to last me until 5:30?" he asked hopefully. David smiled and leaned into his lover's embrace pressing his lips against Craig's, kissing him deeply, his tongue sliding along slick perfect teeth to delve into his lover's mouth as Craig's tongue moved with his. He felt lightheaded already just the taste and touch of his lover was more intoxicating than the sweetest wine. His hand tangling in dark hair while the other moved softly over Craig's lower back, he could lose himself like this. The kiss as always igniting a fire within him and David pulled back breathlessly to stare into his lover's eyes. // I love you, Craig, God I wish I could tell you that, show you. // Craig's heart sped up as he felt his lover's tongue slowly explored his mouth, unable to resist pulling him closer. He *knew* David needed to go, but it was so damn hard to let him go, even for only a few hours. As David pulled back and stared into his eyes, Craig thought he could almost see *something* feelings that were more than desire, more than friendship, more than passion. Convincing himself that that was only wishful thinking, he smiled and took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. "I'll miss you," he said softly. "This afternoon is going to be *so* long." David laughed softly, "I'll miss you too, and yeah it is going to make for a long day," he said smiling. It was silly but the simple words 'I'll miss you' made his heart feel like it would burst from joy. No one had ever cared enough to say they missed him really other than family. Even when Richard had spent that entire summer in England he had never once told David that he missed him. Said he wanted him but not missed him. The thoughts finally hit him how very one sided their relationship had really been and how this budding relationship with Craig was already so...equal. He smiled happily at the realization and stepped back from Craig, immediately regretting the distance between them. Pulling his fingers up to David's lips he kissed them lightly and then released him needing to break the physical contact or he would never get out of his office. He picked up his books and took a deep breath. "I really don't want to go, but I need to," he said regretfully. Craig felt the warmth from David's lips shoot up from his fingers to his arm, almost, but not quiet making up for the loss of the body contact. He sighed and gave his lover a small smile. "I know. I guess I do to," he said softly. "I need to try to find my office again, and get ready for my afternoon class." His could easily fall back into the sparkling eyes that looked back at him, he thought. "I'll be counting the hours," he whispered. "And I'll be back, right here at 5:30. You'll be waiting for me?" //Always.// "Yeah, I'll be right here," David said softly as he unlocked the door knowing he needed to move away from Craig and in the direction of his classroom, before he ended up back at the desk with Craig's arms around him again. He watched as Craig stood up from the desk straightening his clothes and he smiled enjoying the thought that *he* was the reason that Craig *had* to do that. "Have a good afternoon," he said barely keeping himself from adding 'my love' to the end of the sentence. Craig grinned crookedly at his lover, reaching down to get his briefcase and blindly straighten the paperwork that they'd managed to scatter all over the desk. "You too, sweetheart." he smiled, unable to take his eyes from David for even a moment, wanting to savor the luxury of just looking at him for as long as possible. David stopped as he was backing away, and his eyes locked with Craig's. //He called me sweetheart!// He knew he was smiling like an idiot but he couldn't help it. "Sweetheart? I...I like that, no...no I love that. See you this afternoon, sweetheart," David said almost experimentally his eyes sparkling feeling his heart skip in his chest. He remained stalled in the doorway watching Craig. Craig's face flushed, only then realizing that he'd let the endearment slip from his lips. But David's wide grin made him think that maybe this mistake wasn't a bad one. "Sorry that kind of slipped. But I love it too," he grinned, feeling his face get even redder. "It's perfect." He fought the urge to seal the statement with a kiss, knowing if he did, there wasn't a chance in hell either man would make it to their classes. With great effort, he stood where he was, holding on to the edge of the desk to keep from pouncing on his lover. David smiled, "It is perfect," he said softly, "And God I *have* to go..." he trailed off as he continued to back into the hallway until finally he had to turn around and head for his class. His heart was racing as if he'd run a hundred miles, and he walked into his classroom grinning from ear to ear hoping Sally hadn't made some sad pitiful excuse for him because his grin was going to ruin that. Craig felt his heart drop, already missing his lover more than he thought was possible. "Damn. This *IS* going to be a long afternoon," he said to himself, taking a deep breath and trying to focus. //What was I doing again? *Where* was I going? And where the hell *is* my office?// ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Craig sat at his desk, bouncing the erasered end of his pencil against the desk. It had been almost impossible to concentrate on the lesson plan, because his mind kept seeing David's face and hearing his voice. Several times, his students had raised their hand to make sure he was feeling all right. Thanking God the class was finally over, he looked at his watch and sighed. Twenty-nine minutes to go. He opened his anatomy textbook and tried to get interested in *something*, desperately wanting the time to pass faster. The first thing he saw was an illustration of the human body. The tip of his pencil touched the shoulder of the illustrated man idly. // Right *there*. The cute little freckle is right *there* on his shoulder. And one right .*here*, over to the left just a bit. // He closed his eyes and tried to remember each freckle that scattered over his lover's body. // Definitely need to do more research on that. Just to make sure I don't miss any // He dropped his pencil and opened his eyes, noticing almost a dozen small freckles drawn over the picture. Sighing, he looked at his watch again, tapping it with his finger, certain that it was broken. Twenty six minutes. Yeah .that was helpful. Deciding he couldn't wait another moment, he stood and stretched, gathering his books and lesson plans and stacking them slowly inside his briefcase. Twenty four minutes. // Well, I *could* head down the hall. If I walk slow enough, I can pass .another two minutes or so. // Rolling his eyes at himself, Craig crossed the room, unable to stop himself from hurrying. He walked out the door to his office, locking it quickly and heading down the hall to see his lover. Sally curled her legs under her as she sat in the middle of David's desk. "So you see...we chased that thing all around the dorm, have NO idea how a squirrel got in the laundry room in the first place," she said laughing. David chuckled imagining twenty girls in night gowns and pajamas screaming and running after a poor frightened squirrel, "I bet you banshees scared that squirrel a hell of a lot more than you were scared of him," he laughed digging the file he wanted out of the cabinet. The file Sally really should have retrieved for him, but she was too wrapped up in her story about what had happened in the dorm the night before. "Banshees!?" Sally squeaked while David laughed at her outrageous use of her big brown eyes. He saw movement by the doorway and smiled widely as he saw Craig standing there. "Craig, umm I guess I didn't give a proper introduction earlier today," David said blushing. "Dr. Craig Parker, this is my graduate assistant, Sally Jenkins...and she was *just* leaving." He laughed at the way her mouth dropped open. "I really feel unloved now," she murmured and held her hand out to Craig not leaving her place on the desk. "It's nice to actually meet you Dr. Parker, um...I'll try to knock much louder next time," she said knowing she could have beaten the door down with a battering ram and the two lovers wouldn't have heard her. Craig managed to drag his eyes from David's, though it took every ounce of willpower he possessed. Smiling at Sally, he took her hand, unable to keep the blush from his own face. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Jenkins," he said, biting his lip. "David ..Dr. Wenham has told me how valuable you have been to him." He almost laughed at himself knowing how ridiculous he must look calling the man he was practically having sex with earlier on this very desk by his full title. "And .sorry about earlier. He's ..quite distracting .to say the least. Made me forget where I was for a bit." He tried not to look back at David, already embarrassed again, knowing that if he looked at him, he'd not be able drag his eyes away, and Sally would probably be witness to yet another bout of serious making out. Sally smiled, "Don't be sorry, I can easily see how that can happen," she said smiling. She'd always thought David was incredibly handsome, but he was her teacher, and her boss, and not even a little bit interested in women. David shook his head blushing as he listened to their exchange and stood up. Shoving Sally across his desk David said, "As I said though, Sally was *just* leaving, weren't you Sally?" Sally laughed and looked at Craig shaking her head, "But it's not 5:30 yet," she protested. "Jesus, Sally don't you have a home???? Go...shoo....you are getting paid for the whole day...I have a date if you don't mind," David said grumpily but ruining it completely when he smiled broadly. Craig grinned at Sally, seeing how easily his lover related to her, enjoying the smile that graced his face as they bantered. "Never seen a more distracting sight in my life," he said, knowing that this would only deepen his lover's blush. "So gorgeous " he shook his head, afraid that he would go to far and really embarrass his lover. "Anyway ..I ..I hate to run you off, though it seems David is doing that well enough on his own. We kind of well, we kind of *do* have a date. Can you believe it? I've only been here a few days and I get a date with the sexiest man on campus!" He smiled happily, unable to keep from stealing a glance at David. // Yeah, Parker ..*THAT* wont' embarrass him. Not at all! // "Can't say I argue with you on that one either," Sally grinned. "You two have a wonderful evening. See you tomorrow, Dr. Wenham, again it was nice meeting you Dr. Parker," Sally said gathering up her backpack and heading for the door. She glanced back waving just as the two men said goodbye. David felt his face practically glowing from Craig and Sally's exchange. "You shouldn't encourage her," David said to Craig laughing. Craig waved at Sally and turned to wrap his arms around his lover. "Sorry," he said softly, leaning in to press his lips against David's. "I just couldn't help myself. And, God, this has been the longest day I've ever seen in my life. I *know* I'm early, but I couldn't stay away from you any longer. Hope I didn't interrupt." He glanced wickedly at the door. "Damn. She didn't lock it this time. Shall I hurry over and lock it, or are you ready to go home yet?" He pulled his lover closer, nuzzling into his neck, kissing and licking, and reveling in the feel of having his arms back around the man he loved. David laughed as Craig wrapped his arms around him and nuzzled against his neck. "Oh...well early is fine, she was just telling me a silly story actually about a squirrel running amuck in the girls dormitory last night...so no you didn't interrupt *anything* important," David said smiling. "I actually got more work done than I thought I would, would work and work and think time had passed then look at the clock and it had only been ten minutes or so that felt like thirty. So yeah...this day has been entirely too long, and I can bet you money tonight will pass in a flash," he said regretfully as he wrapped his arms around his lover and kissed him tenderly. // God I missed those lips all afternoon.// "Mmmmm" Craig grinned. "I know. I recorded all your freckles in my anatomy book. Then I decided I needed to come and check for accuracy all in the name of research, you know." He leaned back to stare into his lover's blue eyes. "I'm sure tonight will pass by way too quickly too," he whispered seriously. "But ..that just means we can get back in bed " He looked down, suddenly worried that their sleeping arrangements were only temporary - or only for last night. "I mean, if you want to stay with me again tonight ." David laughed softly when Craig spoke of his freckles and then when Craig looked down worried about sleeping arrangements, David frowned and tipped his chin back up so that Craig was looking into his eyes. "Yes, I want to stay with you again tonight, if that is what *you* want," David said seriously, hoping that Craig saw that he truly meant it. He didn't even want to imagine sleeping without Craig next to him now that he'd experienced two full nights and even a nap with him. They fit together so well, curled against one another, and David wanted to wake up in Craig's arms every day as he had today. Craig released the breath he'd been holding as David looked into his eyes. "I love waking up with you," he whispered. "I want you with me tonight and tomorrow night, and every night after that." Craig pulled David closer, realizing how true his words were. He never wanted to give that up. He couldn't even stand to think about not sleeping with this gorgeous man after he'd known what it felt like. "Every. Single. Night." He said softly, punctuating each word with a soft kiss to his lover's lips. David smiled trying to return the soft kisses. "Ready to go home, sweetheart?" he asked softly almost shyly. If they didn't start moving soon, they might end up spending the night in his office. He reluctantly pulled away and picked up his books and then stopped. "Ya know I don't plan on doing any work this evening, I'm just going to leave all this here for once," he said turning back to Craig and offering him his hand. "Walk me home?" "Nothing would make me happier," Craig whispered. "I left everything here too. I don't want to think about anything but you tonight." With a final soft kiss to the full lips before him, Craig reached down to clasp David's hand. "Let's go. And you can tell me what you want to do after dinner. Have you thought about it yet?" "Hmmm, well I don't know, dinner, and would you like to see a movie or maybe go back home and watch one? Course that didn't work last time we tried it," he grinned. "Don't mind that we missed the movie at all though," he said smiling and squeezing Craig's hand. "Or we could just go for a walk after dinner? Really anything sounds fine to me." Craig laughed softly. "Yeah, I guess that last movie thing didn't work out as planned worked out *better*, actually, in my opinion. And well, if you're sure there's nothing specific you want to do after dinner .I was wondering .well, if maybe we could take a walk in the park and you could ..read me a bit more of your poetry??" He smiled shyly at his lover, knowing that he was perfectly able to read it himself, but wanting to hear David's voice speaking of passion and emotions and love to him - even if they were words in general, and not specifically meant for him. "A walk in the park and poetry? You certainly know how to feed my romantic side," David grinned at his lover as they made their way out into the hallway toward the doors. "It sounds wonderful, all of it," he said softly. No one had cared about his poetry before, Richard had always said that it was 'nice' but that no one cared about a poet or an artist for that matter until they were dead. David brushed off the thoughts of his ex and looked at Craig beside him watching the way the early evening light played over his lover's features. //So beautiful, so perfect.// Craig smiled, releasing David's hand and wrapping his arm around his lover's waist, pulling him closer. // God, I love this man. Love everything about him. // "I love your poetry, David," Craig said, leaning in to kiss him softly on the temple as they walked home. // I love *you*. // He hadn't failed to notice the look in the perfect blue eyes as David seemed to be remembering or thinking about something painful for a moment before pushing it away. // If I could just take all that away, love, I would do it in a heartbeat. I wish I could just make it never have happened, whatever it was. // He shook his head, knowing that he could only look forward and make his lover happy this moment, and tomorrow, and all the tomorrows after that. "So, did you have a chance to make the reservations sweetheart?" he asked, still loving the way the word sounded on his lips. He'd never called *anyone* that, but damned if it didn't feel good to say it to David. "Yeah, they are for seven - hope that's ok?" he said softly not accustomed to doing things like that himself. He wished that he weren't so unsure of himself sometimes. Some moments he felt completely in control and confident and others he worried that no matter what he did it wouldn't be the right thing. Craig had been so kind and so perfect, and he worried that he could do something to accidentally destroy it all, he never got to feel this good for this long. "Anything you like," Craig said happily. "I'm just happy you said yes. Even after ..well, after everything that happened this weekend, I was afraid you'd have something better to do, or just want to stay home or something. I was going to see if you wanted to do something Friday night instead, but I was afraid you'd be tired of me by then, so I'd better do it tonight while I still had you." David stopped walking and pulled Craig close, "Don't even think that, Craig. I'll never get tired of you. You are the first person I've ever met that I *want* to spend time with. A lot of time with in fact," he said softly. He decided to admit a little of how he felt, he couldn't tell Craig he was in love with him, the man would go straight home, pack his things, and leave forever thinking David was a lunatic, but he needed to assure him that he did want him in his life. "I...I care about you a great deal already Craig, I want you sexually yes, but it is so much more than that. I can feel myself falling for you, and that is a terrifying feeling when you've had so many bad relationships, and this one...this one you desperately want to get right. Does that makes sense? I'll never ask you to leave. I'll never tire of you, sweetheart." Craig felt his heart pounding in his ears. // I can feel myself falling for you. Dear God. I can't believe he said that. Maybe, just maybe, this will work - maybe he can forget about whoever hurt him, and love me.// He looked steadily into David's eyes and pulled him off the sidewalk until they stood in the soft grass. "It makes perfect sense," he said softly. He wanted absolutely nothing more than to tell David that he loved him, would always love him, but falling in love, and *being* in love were two separate things. "I'm falling for you too, David," he whispered. "I can't even find the words to tell you what I feel for you already, and it's only been three days. You don't have to *try* to get it right. It already *is* right." He placed his hand against the back of his lover's head and curled his fingers in the soft hair. Leaning forward, he placed a deep kiss on the beloved lips. After a long moment, he drew back and smiled. "So, I guess that means that I can go ahead and ask you to be my date tomorrow night? And the night after that? And the next? And the next? And ." Letting his voice trail off, he looked over at David and grinned. "Right?" David smiled and kissed his lover again, "Yes, every day, and every night I am yours," David said softly. He wanted to be with Craig in any way he could, as lovers, as friends, as house mates, as...partners. // Time, David. Give it time, don't fuck this up, and you might actually be happy. // He wrapped his arms more tightly around Craig and rested his forehead against his lovers just enjoying the feel of him in his arms. "We better get home, and get cleaned up...the restaurant isn't fancy but it's nice." He placed a final kiss against Craig's lips and then took his hand again as they started walking toward the house. Craig smiled as they headed home, loving the fact that they didn't have to part ways when they reached the door. They walked in comfortable silence until they reached David's house. Craig grinned mischievously. As David started to reach into his pocket for the house key, Craig stood behind him and wrapped his arms around his waist. "Oh, Dr. Wenham," he purred into his lover's ear. "Can I possibly help you out a bit with finding that key?" David began to laugh, "Hmmm, this sounds interesting, how do you propose to do that Dr. Parker?" David teased in return enjoying the feel of his lover's breath warm and moist against his ear. Craig looked up and down the street, making sure no one could see them. "Well," he whispered, "I can feel around for them. You see, I have a *very* highly developed sense of touch. I can probably find them much more quickly than the average person. " He slowly snaked one hand down into the pocket of David's jeans - the pocket where he *knew* the keys weren't kept. Kissing the back of his neck, Craig casually groped his lover through the thin material of his jeans, trying not to laugh. After a few moments, he pulled his hand away. "Nope," he grinned. "Not there. Guess I should look elsewhere." Moving to the other side of his lover's body, he resumed his lip's work on the warm skin and snaked his hand down into the other pocket. David laughed softly and then as he felt Craig's hand slid into the wrong pocket he grinned and nearly gasped as his half hard cock was stroked through the thin material. When Craig switched sides and managed to retrieve the keys David was nearly fully aroused. "You are bad you know that?" David said grinning as Craig held up the keys. Craig handed the keys to David and blinked innocently. "Whatever do you mean, sweetheart?" he asked, as his lover opened the door. Turning around to take David in his arms as soon as they stepped inside, Craig grinned, still trying to look innocent. "I mean, I was just trying to help. Did I not help?" He leaned in to press his thigh against David's arousal. "Hmm .maybe I helped a bit?" He'd become aroused himself just touching the man he so dearly loved, and turned slightly to brush his own arousal against David's. "I think maybe I did ." "Yes, I think so," David said breathlessly as Craig moved against him his hips moving forward of their own accord vying for more contact. Pulling Craig closer he kissed him deeply, his tongue dancing with Craig's in a passionate breath stealing kiss. Pulling away he stared into deep blue eyes, "We have just under one hour to get ready to leave for the restaurant," he whispered. He wasn't sure exactly what he wanted at this point, all he knew was he wanted Craig. Craig bit his lip and stared into his lover's eyes, hands resting on his hips and pulling him closer, the brush of arousals turning abruptly into a slow grind as they kissed. "So," he whispered, taking a deep breath and burying his face in David's neck. "Shall we see what we can accomplish in and hour, or shall we let the anticipation built up a little over the evening and then decide what to do when we get back?" He *never* wanted David to feel manipulated into anything. Kissing his lover's neck softly, Craig pulled his hips back just enough to break the contact. "What ever you feel like." David groaned softly, "This is *not* an easy choice," he grinned. "I have a feeling if we keep going we will end up missing dinner," he said knowing that they didn't really have enough time. "We'd better just get cleaned up and changed...and," David said sighing and glancing past Craig to D'Artangan in the floor just a few feet away. "I have to feed the dog before he disowns me," he said regretfully pulling further away. He could always take a cold shower to try and stave off what he was feeling right now. Craig nodded and placed a final soft kiss to his lover's lips, thinking that a cold shower was in order, not knowing that David was thinking the very same thing. "Yeah," he said. "I need a shower and some clean clothes. Then I can help you feed D'Artangan if you like?" "Nah you go on upstairs, I'll take care of fuzz face," David grinned. "Matter of fact I'll do that right now," he said kissing Craig softly and then stepping back and tapping his hand against his thigh, immediately the dog bolted from his spot and leaned up against David wanting to be rubbed. He smiled down, "It was killing him having to wait...sometimes I think he's way too well trained," he looked up at Craig and smiled. "Sound ok to you?" David asked as the dog pushed his head against David's hand and he laughed. Craig reached down to scratch behind D'Artangan's ears and smiled at his lover. "Sounds good to me," he said, turning toward the stairs. "Just means I'll get all the hot water." Smiling, he walked up the stairs and into his room, where he quickly toed off his shoes and unbuttoned his shirt, throwing it on the bed, quickly followed by his jeans. He walked into the bathroom and turned the water on as he reached for a towel. Staring into the mirror, he smiled as he saw the red mark on his neck, letting his fingers rub over the dark skin. // Marked. He marked me. I'm his like there was ever any doubt. // With a final grin, he stepped into the shower, turning the hot water faucet on low. Maybe he wouldn't use all the hot water after all, he thought. David smiled as Craig walked away. // Feel free use ALL the hot water, I won't be needing it. // Taking a deep breath he smiled down at his dog and said, "Well come on...I've got a date tonight," he said grinning. As he started to walk toward the kitchen he thought about earlier that day in his office and then what had just happened in the foyer just kissing someone had never been so exciting. He smiled to himself as he walked into the kitchen. He was glad he told Craig he was falling in love, honestly he was already in love with him, but each moment he fell a little deeper. It felt wonderful to feel that way about someone who actually seemed to care about him and his feelings. Go to [Chapter 7] |
